Here is a sample of a way you could teach classroom guidance this year! I always liked to have an organized plan and something that was fluid throughout the year. It was important that it was research based. It was also important to me that it taught the kids about relationships and how to get along.
Please contact me if you do any of these lessons to let me know how it went and with any questions you have :-)

Sample Classroom Guidance Plan
Kindergarten and First Grade -
Kindergarten The Shubert Series by Dr. Becky A. Bailey and Leigh Ann Burdick as the focal point of the lessons.
The Shubert Series helps to build character and teaches helpful ways for children to solve problems with others. The teacher, Mrs. Bookbinder models Conscious Discipline® strategies for adults to use with children.
These books are great for classroom guidance! There are enough books so you can do one each month! The kids and teachers love the theme and the recurring puppet Shubert. I would recommend buying the books and puppet! If you have any questions feel free to email me!
Activities
-Safe Place Breathing Icons, these icons are helpful when teaching students to calm down by taking a big deep breath.
-Shubert Extension Activities- these come directly from the Conscious Discipline Website
A few worksheets I made in addition to the extension activities...
-Shubert is a Star Worksheet
-Shubert Rants and Raves
-Shubert's Big Voice
-Shuberts New Friend
Second Grade-
The curriculum Second Step. This research based program teaches social-emotional skills that children need to be successful in school. The program also aligns with the state academic common core learning standards. In second grade students will be learning problem-solving steps. As well as, skills about how to be respectful and respond to playground exclusion.
Activities
The unit comes with great videos and activities already made. I would sometimes add books that went along with the unit or my own worksheets.
Third, Fourth and Fifth grade-
Steps to Respect program. This research based program teaches children how to respond to bullying situations. It gives children the correct vocabulary and examples of how to confront various bullying issues.
Activities
This also comes with activities and videos. I used all the videos and some of the worksheets. I would add to this unit also with different videos and my own worksheets. I have had great results when presenting the Steps to Respect program. Check them out below....
