Short Lessons
-Brush up on Respect-Teaching Tolerance, bully prevention
-Talk about good manners-courtesy ,politeness, kindness.
-Brainstorm ways in which we communicate when speaking. Develop positive words students hear everyday. How do these words make you feel. Practice using those words all month all month!!!
-Discuss rules. What are the rules for? Why do we have rules? Which rules do you like and do not like? How does following rules demonstrate respect.
-Discuss how you show respect for yourself, (how you dress, talk, act, walk)
-Be "respect spies" for the month. Have a box in your class where kids can write down when they saw someone be respectful and read one each day from the box.
-Role Plays- Here are some examples of a couple kids "disagreeing appropriately". These are good to do in groups of two and then show at the front of the class. You could even video them!!!
